Cynthia Gillanders, self-taught artist and registered massage therapist, had a light-bulb moment in August 2005. She documented her sudden revelation in a notebook that she has kept to this day. "I wrote the words 'wellness gallery' and drew a light bulb," she recalls. The business idea was simple: to combine her two passions, art and massage therapy, and create a sustainable start-up, scalable and adaptable enough to make it unique among competitors in the marketplace.
In May 2006, Cynthia renovated her dream building, a protected heritage property built circa 1908. In September 2006, she launched Inlet Wellness Gallery, fittingly in Port Moody, officially coined City of the Arts.
