Calgary's first self-serve frozen yogurt shop, Tutti Frutti opened its doors in March of 2013 just off 17th Avenue Southwest in Mount Royal Village. Right in the heart of the hustle and bustle of the area's shops, cafes and restaurants, Tutti Frutti is the perfect place to grab dessert at any time of day. Open every day of the week, Tutti Frutti caters to all types of customers; from the high school kids that frequent it during the day to the post-dinner crowd that stops in for dessert.
Tutti Frutti happens to be the largest self-serve frozen yogurt retailer in the world with over 680 locations in over 30 countries. It was introduced to Canadians in 2011 in Edmonton and has been expanding rapidly across the country since.
Owners Carmen Cheng and Dong Kim became frozen yogurt proprietors unexpectedly, thanks to their love of the creamy, delicious dessert. The couple previously lived in Edmonton and decided to move to Calgary when Cheng was offered a job in human resources. Also looking for a new career opportunity, Kim came up with the idea to open a frozen yogurt shop in Calgary since the food trend hadn't hit the city yet. They then purchased their 17th Avenue Southwest Tutti Frutti franchise.
They now own and operate a second franchise location in Deerfoot Meadows and they have been loving every minute of their frozen yogurt adventure.
