When Cheryl Kasianiuk had her first child, she noticed a gap in the market for natural baby products, such as cloth diapers and breastfeeding supplies. After the birth of her second son, Bosom Babies was born in 2000. A self-described “mompreneur,” Cheryl’s store is truly a reflection of her personality and values. “I grew up on a farm just coveting nature,” says Cheryl. “I believe in going back to basics and having products that are as close to nature as possible.”

A large decorative tree adorned with stuffed animals sets the eco-friendly vibe of the store. Some of the most popular items at the store include the large selection of cloth diapers, baby carriers, breastfeeding supplies, wooden toys and bamboo clothing. “With the case of babies, being eco-friendly often saves you money, so it’s a win-win no matter what,” says Cheryl. For example, while cloth diapers have a larger cost upfront, they are durable and reusable and therefore save money in the long run over disposable diapers.

Don’t expect to find Barbie dolls, or plastic toys with flashy lights. “There’s an overstimulation of babies going on right now,” says Cheryl. “The toys with all the lights is something we don’t need …” She also supports having gender-neutral toys and clothing to allow children to grow up without traditional stereotypes imposed upon them.
