My husband and I had been talking for months about trying this pub out we finally went and we are glad we did. We had an excellent meal, great service..We might have gone a little overboard in ordering but we wanted to try a bit of everything. All items came piping hot with great flavour. We will be returning and spreading the word about how much we enjoyed our time there. App's, Awesome, Entree's, Fantastic, Dessert, Yummo!
I visited The Butcher and Banker for the first time last summer with my brother-in-law after a long day of manual labour. We went on a Monday night when they have their fish & chips special. What a great introduction to this restaurant. The fish (haddock) & chips were fantastic, the service excellent and the overall atmosphere was great.
I later took my wife on a Friday or Saturday and we both ordered the halibut & chips. Just amazing! A nice, meaty white fish in a light, fluffy beer batter. Not too much batter and a great balance of flavour. The tartar sauce was great, the coleslaw was excellent, chips were crisp on the outside & soft on the inside. Excellent all around. Best fish & chips I've had... not greasy, no fish flavour... just fantastic.
Up until then, there was only one other place that I thought could do fish & chips to that quality, and that place is in the King West area of Toronto.
Since those two visits, The Butcher and Banker has become our go-to place when we're in the mood for fish & chips.
But... we have had more meals than fish & chips there (both at the restaurant and ordering out) with the same great results as their halibut & chips.
We've tried a few of their appetizers...the deep fried pickles are our favourite and they're as good (or better) than the ones from Turtle Jack's.
I've enjoyed the restaurant so much that when my birthday came 'round last fall, we invited our friends from Hamilton to join us for an evening at the restaurant and again had a great experience. That night, I ordered one of the specials which happened to be blackened blue marlin. Another winner! So good. My wife and some of our friends ordered burgers... some the Banker burger and some the Butcher burger. Everyone loved their burgers! (I have had one since and must say that they're excellent!) It was another great meal by the restaurant.
I have yet to try their brunch, but I'm sure it's just as good as everything else we've had so far. Highly recommended. I hope that the restaurant continues on with their excellent food & service. If so, I'll be a patron for years to come.

I find the pub to be overpriced! The service to be medicore. The servers looked annoyed and unwelcoming at the door when the 5 of us arrived for dinner.
I ordered the salmon, and the citrus sauce had gone bad. It was so gross, everyone at the table had the same reaction. They remade it. I did not have time to eat it, as my 1 1/2 year old was melting and my friends finished their entrees before, I even had mine remade. I asked for it to go, when I brought it home, it was still not delicious. You may be interested to know, that I was charged FULL price for this item!
When I first heard the term "Deep Fried Pickles" I was grossed out. Then someone took me to the butcher and banker and made me try them. Delicious!
The Butcher and Banker had a nice decor, they did a total renovation when they bought the place. I must say I was a bit reluctant to try this place because of bad dining experiences in the 2 former restaurants that once stood there (Phase One, and Chrisarios) But I was glad to go in and see they they re-did the place. It's updated CLEAN and has a inviting cosy dining room. Also the bathrooms were nice and tidy. A huge plus for me. You can trust the kitchen is clean if the place has clean washrooms!
The food was great and they had a great selection from traditional pub fare to modern things like thai chicken salad. The service staff were great they were kind and friendly and the kitchen staff were speedy and they create delicious food. This restaurant is just what we need in Beamsville
A perfect neighbourhood pub! Lots of good beer on tap. Standard pub food such as meat pies, fish and chips, etc. all done well. Pleasant servers and cozy atmosphere.
