They put chicken in my dish for pick up in which was ordered as a vegetarian dish. When brought to their attention, they didn’t correct their mistake, and so I paid $20(+) for a dish I wasn’t able to eat. They’re terrible, do not eat there.
Hey Legend fans, enough! Don't spread the word anymore or we will all regret it and just have to resort to take-out. Our favourite little lunch spot was fully jammed this Wednesday at noon. We were lucky to get the last available table. In spite of the crowd service was almost as prompt as usual thanks to the cheerful senior server with only a beginner helping him, - sort of, out front. Our meals were as good as always once we rescued them from another table with ample seasoning, ingredients and spice. And please don't mention their exceptional value either. Let's keep it ours.
I very rarely write any sort of reviews, but Bamboo Legend is so good that they deserve it. This place is a hidden gem! You wouldn't think much of it from the outside but they have some of the most delicious thai food I've ever had. Their coconut soup is hands down the best soup I've ever eaten. If I could have them make me a whole pot of it, I would. The only downside to this place is that lately they seem to be making their own hours (We've gone at times they're supposed to be open for dinner and they're closed) and they usually only have 1 server on staff which can make wait times a bit longer. But with all of this said, I urge anyone reading this to try Bamboo Legend out. The food is out of this world
This gem is our go-to spot for the best food - so yummy, we talk about it for weeks. Any of the curry - green, or red or coconut - whatever. The Pad Thai is wonderful and the various appetizers are perfect. Mango or Peanut dishes - awesome. We eat too much every time but leftovers are just fine with me. The atmosphere is relaxed, which means it isn't the fanciest spot (around the corner) but the food makes it wonderful, (better than the fancy spot). The prices are good enough (we rarely have a beer, tea is fine) and we can come when we want to instead of a rare treat. But the food is a treat anyway.
I had read reviews of this place on this site and decided to give it a try. I was definitely impressed! It is nestled in the corner of the plaza next to Starsky's. It was hard to find at first. Once we walked in, we were impressed with the decor and the layout of the restaurant. It is small but quaint, with lots of room for parties. The servers were very kind and attentive. We had first ordered the crabmeat wonton. I liked it, but had hoped the wonton would have been more stuffed with cream cheese as it only had a bit of cream cheese and the rest crabmeat. The beef pad thai was delicious, it was filled with flavour, with a choice of two sauces which were put on the table for us. The sweet sauce went great with the pad thai. I was impressed with everything and will definitely be back!
They didn't charge us for the spring rolls because it came after the main courses which we were pretty impressed about. And the waiters were friendly asking if we were doing ok. We really enjoyed the spring rolls and the shrimp rolls. They were delicious. I wish there were more chicken in my pad thai though. but definitely coming back again :) btw THE MAP IS WRONG! copy and paste the address on googlemap
Small restaurant well hidden, but worth to find it! The welcome and service was good, receiving a free hot tea and water before ordering anything. We tried some excellent appetizers (spring rolls with chicken and crab fried pastas) and Padang Beef for main course. The curry-coconut sauce was delicious, probably too spicy for many people ;)
A nice restaurant tucked away in the corner of a plaza. Great atmosphere and great service. Always go during lunch rush hour on lunch break and have never had anything but exceptional service. Have had the gang dang & pad thai & always get the tom yum soup to start. What a fresh way to start the meal with this light and spicey soup, just the way I like it. The pad thai is consistently amazing and I keep coming back for more. Definitely a great restaurant.
I wanted take out in a hurry so I asked what was quick and they recommended the Thai Curries. I chose Creamy Coconut Curry-Panang. Yummy crunchy green beans, lime leaves, carrots, sweet bell peppers, lemongrass and fresh basil simmered in a delicious creamy coconut milk and Panang curry. I ordered mine with shrimps. Rice on the side. I was given a cup of tea while I waited and before I could finish my food was ready. Zipped home and began to eat. It was heavenly! I was going to keep some for my son but it was so good I had to finish it all! I WILL be back! BTW, the room is beautiful!
No doubt, they have an amazing atmosphere as far as restaurant goes. They're food is, however, nothing especially delicious or cheap, and their service is lacking at best. If you want to eat real Thai/Viet food, this isn't the restaurant to go to. If you want to eat food because of the atmosphere and decor, this restaurant is fine.
Don't let the location fool you, this place is great! The service leaves something to be desired, it's hit and miss. You can sometimes wait forever for your meals and other times everything is great. We've never had a bad meal here, it's always a great looking plate and taste is amazing. Prices are very reasonable. I'd highly recommend the thai ice tea and the honey tea. I always get the cashew chicken!
Whats not to like?! Food? GOOOD , Price? GOOOD , Service? GOOD, atmosphere? excellent!! We made a reservation for 4 people, got there and were welcomed to a beautiful relaxing setting. The menu was very elegant, and we were given some nice hot jasmine tea to start. We began by ordering a few appetizers. Thai fresh rolls, and the mango salad & satay skewers were especially good! For the main course, I ordered Cashew Nut Chicken and it was easily one of the best meals ive ever had. The rest of my company ordered House padthai, Mango chicken, Seafood special, and coconut sticky rice w/ beef. Portions were great! we even had to bring some home. Throughout the night the service was excellent and we always felt welcomed and taken care of. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT TO ANYONE WHO LOVES VIETNAMESE AND THAI FOOD AND ALSO THOSE WHO ARE LOOKING TO TRY SOMETHING NEW!! WELL DONE BAMBOO LEGEND!!
we have been a fan of bamboo legend since being introduced to it last year when our family ordered take out from there. Definitely the best pad Thai, not the catsup kind found at other Thai establishments. Though they have changed their pad Thai to the catsup base earlier this year you can still request the pad thai to be made the original way with the tamarind base with or without peanuts. Love the panang chicken (the cocunut milk based red curry). Staff is pleasant as well. I recommend this place.
I've been to many restaurants and eat out a lot, so I've experienced many things....from having to wait for my food for over half an hour to finding aluminum foil in my food. Today I can confidently say that I've had the worst experience at a restaurant. This restaurant has been known for its thai-vietnamese cuisine for years and has been somewhat of a legend for those who eat out a lot. Firstly, when walking into the restaurant...there was only about two other tables that had previously ordered their dishes. We waited for about AN HOUR for our dishes. Upon questioning the waiter, he informed us that "not all of our dishes were made" meaning....they had made some...and not the others. Great organization. After waiting an hour and being very upset, we drove home to enjoy our semi-warm dishes...only to realize that they forgot our crab in our soft shell crab curry. A dish we paid $15 for...with no crab. We called back explaining to the restaurant what they forgot and they informed us they will be delivering us the crab free of charge. We "assumed" that they were giving us a new soft shell crab curry dish...but an hour and half later (when they finally arrived), much to our dismay....they only gave us the crab...so we can toss it into our curry. So there you have it, the worst possible take-out experience of my life. On top of forgetting the most important part of a dish, they did not try to please us as customers by giving us a new dish of curry, just...the portion they forgot. Some restaurant. I can guarentee you that I WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO THIS RESTAURANT nor do I recommend it. They are not the only Thai-Vietnamese restaurant in the area.
Customers should visit both locations including Oakville. Environment is always friendly, waitresses are cute, food waiting process was perfect with all great timing with serving the dishes. Fine food munching! I am a bamboo legend fan.
Better than Spring Rolls (the restaurant). Everything was delicious. The place was nice. Nice atmosphere. Not too crowded. Portion sizes were good. Authentic pad thai was amazing. Mango salad is a must have.
I have been to this place a few times over the years, ever since it first opened. It is really a nice spot, with great decor and cute waitresses. The food come in good portions and you can choose different levels of hotness. I normally go 3 or 4 (out of 5). Their pad thai and papaya/mango salad was what first drew me to this restaurant. But the quality of pad thai has gone downhill a bit in my opinion. It became a bit too much kitchuppy and sweet. But I would probably go back again sometimes to see if it has recovered its quality again.
Soft Shell Crab was my main dish and it was Terrific! For appetizer I had crab meat wonton which started my seafood crave at Bamboo. The setting of the restaurant was unique and the environment was calm and relaxing. I loved the waiter there, very kind and generous. This was my first time eating here and I would have to say it has a rich luxury of thai cuisine. Definately a MUST GO!!
This place is fantastic! The food is awsome, the service is fantastic and the decor is stunning! What a great little restaurant, highly recommended!!! If they were in a better location you would'nt be able to get a seat! Keep it up!
Compare to a year ago, their quality has gone downhill a bit. The pad thai was no longer as good as I remembered, and the papaya salad doesn't look as fresh. The glass noodle is still good though. Still better than spring roll I think. One of the better thai places around west end.
