A vital member of Oshawa's restaurant scene, Dines Family Restaurant first opened their doors for business in 1964. Current owner Mike Hamdan offers patrons generous portions of quality homestyle food at the beloved spot, which is best known for its all-day breakfast and hearty steak on a kaiser.
“My partners and I decided to buy into the business because of its history in Oshawa,” says Mike. “We offer American and Canadian food, everything is fresh and made in the kitchen here. Nothing is out of a can and everything is made from scratch. You really feel like you’re eating at home when you come to Dines Family Restaurant.”
I ordered stir fry chicken from dynes restaurant it was burnt to disgusting fashion the waitress never came to ask me how my meal was I just sat there , at the end I mentioned it the owners or management and totally was disrespected me maybe cuz Im maybe cuz Im ethnic culture. It was very upsetting to me to be treated that way very disgusting . I offered to pay no matter what they told me I should have said something to the waitress who was never around very bad experience so sad.
Just stopped in for breakfast. Not just one, but two hairs in my meal. Asked for an order of toast instead so I wouldn’t be hungry, then they charged me $3.49 for the toast. Cheers Dine’s, you won’t see me again!
Great place to eat,love their home-made meals and fresh cut French fries.Very clean place with open kitchen where I can see what is cooking.Best all day breakfast in Oshawa.
We were there about a month ago, my girlfriend got a curly hair with her meal, when they returned with another there was another hair! Recently when we have been walking by the area, we have seen many, many RATS behind routing through the garbage, they keep that area so filthy that there is always a terrible odour and now rats! I have never seen a RAT IN Oshawa until this time! I will never return!!
We visit Dines on a regular basis and are in love with their souvlaki dinners. Tons of food and always made perfect! Staff is very friendly and efficient!!
We've frequented Dine's on many occasions and always enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinners there but our last visit was just that, our last visit. After walking in and seating ourselves - which I'm sure was the setup and didn't require someone to seat us - we sat for fifteen minutes while service people walked around us and ignored us. My wife and I got up and left. Sad because we used to enjoy the restaurant.

Dines an Oshawa staple. However I beleive the quality has diminished through the years, my last visit was a real disappointment. I ordered souvlaki dinner it was much too salty and the greek salad was bland and watery. not enough chicken either almost $13 with tax was a bit much, I wouldnt mind if the quality was better I guess for people in oshawa its better than kraft mac and cheese though
Having visited so many disappointing Oshawa Breakfast restaurants in the past 5 months since moving here, it is nice to finally find a passable one.
The food is regular breakfast food, but unlike my other breakfast experiences, you get what you order and you aren't overpaying.
The staff is nice, and you can watch as your food is made. Very "Diner" esque
I get up at 07:00 on Saturday, out the door with my daughter by 08:00. Stop at a local magazine shop and pick up my not so lucky 649 tickets.
09:00 Meet my buddy at Dines and we all order Breakfast! The point...It is a fun "greasy spoon" with excellent food and service. I have been doing this for the past 2 years. The staff are so nice to my daughter and know her by her first name.
My plan...I hope when I am 60, I will still be meeting my daughter for breakfast at Dines on a Saturday morning!
