The prices you will find when you Google this store are misleading. What should have come to $22.75 plus tax was $35.48 when the order was picked up. When we called the store about this they denied that the prices quoted under Jasper Fish and Chips, Pickering, Ontario was their page. Lived in Pickering fifty years and never knew there were Two Jasper Fish and Chips
I have been going here for years and its the best fish and chips hands down!!!! Do yourself a favour and try them!!!
Portion size changes with each order. Have to ask for fries extra crispy & still are soggy when they get home from a take out order. People are friendly & apologetic. Meali pudding is good. Fish quality is very good but batter is flaky and could be thicker. To be fair, it was stuck in the bag for 15 min before eating but if you call ahead it is ready in 10 min when you get there.
Used to be considered one of the best F&C places in the area. NO WAY can this be true anymore. Fish was flavourless, and there was more batter than fish. Batter was thick and chewy and greasy, and seemed to be overcooked (dark brown instead of golden). Fries/chips were greasy and hard, as if they were fried more than once. Definitely not fresh. Place seemed dirty and tired, too. Decor hasn't been updated and maybe their oil is as old as the decor. Not sure what happened to this place, but seeing how a take-out dinner for a family of 4 was more than $50, I would have at least expected something decent. More than half of our food got tossed out.....not appetizing at all. :( Will not be returning here anymore.
we ordered take out for our business lunch. All parties were raving about the fish and chips . Our two guests wanted to know the location so they could go to Jaspers when in Pickering again. The staff were very friendly and our order was on time.
Fish and chips was alright, not that great.
The Fish was Greassssy! The chips were average. The coke was fine. The straws were cracked. The glass for the coke looked like it belonged to Jesus. The tarter sause were in packettes...not classy. The decor was ummmmmm...let leave it at that! The atmoshere was very Durham Region. The best thing going was my date...she was hot, compared to the fish! The take-out menu is cheaper that the dine in menu?????????? huh????????????
Found Jaspers 6 yrs ago, Best around, our grandson loves it too, when he visits with us we ask, where do you want to go, and he says Jasper's. He loves the fish!!!!!! Always make us feel welcome whenever we go
A single take out order on a busy Friday afternoon. The chips were generous, but not crisp, a bit soggy. That would be fine if the fish was good. Instead of one large piece there were three smaller pieces, and they were way overcooked, as if the cook was concentrating only on the batter and appearance. I wanted to like this place, and the service was good, but I won't go back unless I'm taken there, and even then, I would specify how I want my fish cooked.
Chips was dry, dark, not fresh.Sever seems look down at you ,because you are new.why many people think the place is the "BEST",no true at all.
fish is very dry and chips was dark ,not fresh at all.
Good service will always be remembered. Compared to the take out prices you pay for "sit down" and these people make sure you get GOOD service (best I have ever seen). Their chips, while not bad could use some work, obviously their emphasis is on the fish which was very good
My first time at Jasper's. I ordered in for halibut and chips. The fish portion was very generous and the batter was very nice, not too greasy. The fries weren't all that great. To me they tasted like overcooked steak fries. They had a strange bitterness to them, almost like they were burnt but clearly weren't. Overall the service was quick and friendly, although I thought it was a little overpriced. My meal was $12.50 including a Diet Coke.
My wife and I have been coming here for years from Toronto. Service is always prompt, portions are large and halibut is always done in a light batter. Best fish and chips in the GTA
This place has the best in town. I have been going for years and never disappointed. I always get a little extra piece of fish tossed in with the order. I actually order fish and "half" chips now because the serving is so large. I never eat in yet the tables are usually full. Call ahead to order otherwise at dinner time there might be ten ahead of you waiting. I've tried others in town but always come back here.
Very fresh and large servings. Ordered 6 pieces for 4 people (used to small pieces) - received 6 LARGE pieces and a few extra small pieces. Definitely recommend 1/2 servings of fries for each adult and one Halibut.
