Tilde is a taco joint on Danforth Avenue that offers contemporary and light Mexican cuisine alongside a variety of local craft beers and delicious cocktails. Open since 2014, the casual Mexican eatery is the vision of co-owner and executive chef Gauravi Shah who made the move to a culinary career from a previous background in engineering. A perhaps unusual offering for the otherwise predominently Greek neighbourhood, Gauravi noticed that tacos were missing in the east end of Toronto.
“The Danforth is a very cosmopolitan area; we serve everyone from college-age kids to young professionals popping in for lunch, to couples with babies coming for an early dinner,” says Gauravi. “We’ve been trying to take every opportunity to open up our demographic, like hosting paint nights and other special events to attract new customers.”
