Fantastic. Been there number of times and every time had very enjoyable experience.
Probably one of the best kept secrets in southern ontario great food ,service was awsome and a cozy place.I would highly recommend this restaurant.
I agree with the other poster that the food is absolutely top notch. It's a hidden gem in Woodstock and a perfect place for a romantic date or special event.
I agree that the service seemed confused... especially since it was lunch and there were only four people in the restaurant. Most disappointing was calling ahead and being assured that vegetarians could be accommodated, only to find the exact opposite on arrival. The only item available was a salad. Even the soup was made with a meat broth. LondonFoodie... they DID have a reservation and it was CANCELLED for another group, not a great way to run a restaurant business.
Overall....I think that this is the best restaurant that Woodstock has to offer. The food is fresh, local and the chef knows what he is doing. I do think that the service could be a bit better and more friendly, but the food and drinks are timely. The portions of food are smaller then what is found over at chains, however you are paying for the quality and not the quantity. Always feel full and completely satisfied when leaving, as the food is rich and wonderful. Would go more often if the menu was switched up a bit regularly.
Seems that poor service is a common theme here. I can attest to that. Otherwise, it's fine. The service staff were friendly enough but couldn't seem to "get it together." More trainingperhaps?
Food is very good but portions are small. When we were there, service was slow. A special occasion kind of place. Expensive. Staff is friendly. Limited parking.
Food is excellent but the menu needs to change every month, if not all of the menu, at least half of it. A couple of vegetarian choice without pasta would be a nice addition. Service is good but slow; it would be helpful if the server inquired when customers are seated if they have time requirements. Highly recommend visiting it; best value in the area for the quality of food preparation.
For Woodstock this restaurant is impressive. It's definitely fine dining. The food is prepared by a very talented chef that could really go places if he/she wished. One big PROBLEM is SERVICE. I've had better service at nearly every chain restaurant there is. They just seem inexperienced. I had a fruit fly in my wine and the waitress took the wine away but did not pour a complimentary refill. I questioned her about this at the end and she said there was nothing she could do about the fly's getting in the wine and wouldn't take the cost of that glass of wine off the bill. What a rookie move! Get some pro servers in there and the place will be impeccable. I wonder if I should try again?
Wow! We were so impressed, from the moment we walked in. The atmosphere is bright and calm. All our food was delicious, from the free bread with flavoured butters at the start to the desserts and coffee at the end. Our server was really helpful and friendly. We thought the palate cleanser was kind of fun. (Grapefruit ice?) It's kind of pricey, but it's so nice to get creative seasonal food at a restaurant. Nice selection of beers, which is rare. We went because they won "Best Food Service" at the Woodstock Business Awards of Excellence for 2008. Well deserved. Highly recommended!
The food and atmosphere were both fantastic. We are vegetarian and the chef made a special dish for us. We highly recommend this restaurant - especially if you live in Woodstock and don't feel like making the trip to London for a great dining experience!
