When Changes Consignment Clothing opened up in 1987, consignment was foreign to many shoppers. “In those days, there were a lot of thrift shops but no consignment shops,” says owner Barb Davis. “So we decided to take that thrift store concept and elevate it.” Today consignment is a common way for fashion-forward thinkers to renew their wardrobes without blowing their budgets.
Barb's idea quickly took off and Changes Consignment Clothing became a truly family brand when her daughter Rhonda opened Changes Vancouver. The two share a love of fashion and their philosophy about clothes. “We love fashion because we as women like to change things up,” Barb notes. “Every season we get a chance to recreate our wardrobe and recreate our image. That’s empowering to women.”
