Hunter & Hare’s co-owners, Jo Bousaleh and Micki Cole, met while working together at a Vancouver women’s clothing store. “We became close friends,” says Jo. “And we realized that we were a good team, so we talked about what to do next and decided to do it together.”
“We saw a lot of waste in the fashion industry and felt strongly about not adding to it,” says Micki. The pair decided to open a women’s consignment boutique, since buying used is much more environmentally-friendly that buying new.
Much like Micki and Jo’s partnership, Hunter & Hare’s aesthetic is well balanced. The brand's two stores (one on Pender St, the other on Union St.) each clearly reflect a melange of the co-owners personal styles. Micki’s is clean and modern, while Jo’s is more feminine. The result, says Jo, is “modern and woodsy, but clean.” The Union St. location has a living wall, hanging plants and wood finishes.
