When opportunity knocks, Julie Mitchell answers. That’s due to her business acumen as founder of Parcel Design, a brand strategy firm. So when she heard that an indoor cycling studio was closing down in Leslieville, she started exploring the possibilities of opening up a new space.
“I wanted to do something that was local and community-focused,” explains Julie. “I knew that there was kind of a built-in audience already that was craving something similar, so it just felt right."
After finding a run-down space on Queen Street East and spending eight months developing it, Julie officially opened Torq Ride in May 2016. She made perfect use of the small space, carefully considering every detail. The industrial garage at the back became the indoor cycling studio, the main hallway has three washrooms and four showers which all double as change rooms, and a beautiful front reception area houses the Torq boutique, with a blazing orange logo that adds an instant cheerful touch to the space.
