A family that stays together eats together. It might be a variation of the original saying, but it fits appropriately when you meet Dilraj Aryal and his younger brother Yuvraj Aryal. They are the proud owners of the Indian restaurant Bombay Grill, which has several branches in the Greater Toronto Area, including Burlington, Ajax, Hamilton, Milton and Markham.
The brothers worked as chefs in several Indian restaurants in Calgary and Toronto before starting their first restaurant in Burlington. “Therefore, it was a no-brainer and in 2002, we made the obvious but risky decision to open our first restaurant,” says Dilraj.
Dilraj says it was their dream to run their own establishment and they thought it was important to give it at least one good shot. “Failure was never an option, but it was still at the back of our minds even though we had all the necessary skills to be successful,” he says.
The brothers are originally from Delhi, India, but they opted to use Bombay in their restaurant’s name. “The city, Bombay, was more known to Canadians than Delhi, so it preceded over the latter,” says Dilraj. “And since we were excellent at making grilled food, we named our restaurant Bombay Grill.”

BBQ lunch meal. Tandoori chicken, lamb kebab, naan and veggies. The meal had value and lots of flavours. I was great to just order a meal off the menu; freshly prepared instead of the usual over indulge at a buffet where sometimes food sits too long.
Great Indian cuisine!!!!! By far best in Burlington!! And maybe even the province. Just a great job keep it guys!!!
I have driven by the restaurant many times and we have intended to stop in...Boy....I wish we had sooner, food is authentic, home made, high quality and the service is incredible... Since my first visit I have been 4 times and my kids have all asked for take-out.. This owner has expanded...I wonder why... very proud to see Burlington in starting to become more diverse with the available dining choices!!!
This is the best indian restaurant i have ever been to and is hands down the best!!
We arrived after a movie at 9:45 and asked if they were still serving since they close at 10pm. They said yes and we were the only ones in the place. We started wih chai tea as it was cold outside. After some questions we ordered 2 sample plates they had on the "today's specials" board. One veggetarian and one with chicken and shrimp. 3 separate tasting bowls on each platter was more than enough (lunch the next day)and delicious. Also, staff was friendly and when we started to talk about the food regions and where they were from we were treated by the nicest man to a short description of his culture, both in India and Canada. He ended by inviting us to their place of worship/community centre for Sunday yoga and lunch. Very sweet.
Bombay Grill provided more than enough food for 45 people attending a club dinner. The food was excellent, delivered good and hot. Everyone raved about how good the food was. Organizers take note!
It is an amazing restaurant and i am a hard food critique but this food has blown me away and it tastes like it is perfectly fresh . the prices are a little bit over but it is all worth every penny. The service and atmosphere is phenomenal. I found out about this restaurant 2 weeks ago when my bud told me about it so we went with another guy to the restaurant. They were all blown away and for sure i will go again and honestly i think this is definetely the best indian restaurant in all of burlington and now it has 4 locations that is when you know they are getting business. The decor and atmosphere is amazing and i will definetely come back. I also had a catering from this restaurant 2 days ago and man everbody loved it the we had no extras left and the kind free extras that the owners gave me was what made it enough. It was quite the large order
We ordered a party-size amount of tandoori chicken for an event. The person we spoke to on the phone quoted a price that was a little expensive, but still ok. When we went to pick-up the order, they did not honor the price quoted, and charged an additional $20 than what we had agreed upon. We had to go to the function so did not stay to argue. When we followed up the next day, they said sorry, but refused to refund the money. On speaking to other people, this has happened to them as well. So- ok food, poor service, and do not honor their prices. Also, it ended up being about $3 per piece of dark meat.
The food is delicious and reasonably priced. We love going to this restaurant as they serve food anytime between 12 noon and 10 p.m. If you are hungry at 3 or 4 p.m. you can always go this restaurant for a nice meal.
We all went out last night to the Bombay Grill and were had a great night!! We were promptly greeted at the door and sat very quickly. The lighting was nice as it created a soft ambiance, and very shortly after we were greeted by our waiter. He was a great guy, great sense of humour (hard to find these days), he took our drink order returned promptly, and returned quickly too. All of our food was quick, hot and very tasty!! It did not taste like it came out from frozen, but rather made there fresh. Our food was so delicious and tender. The amounts that they served were very appropriate - not like some restaurants where they serve you waaaayyyy too much food. We also had a chance to chat with our waiter and waitress and they were very friendly. I had paid as it was my Dad's birthday and I tipped the waiter generously, as it hard to get great service these days. I will definitely be back and recommend to other people :))
A GREAT DISCOVERY!! We visited the Bombay Grill for the first time. Very friendly waitress, very nice surroundings ... and **absolutely delicious food!! ** We promised our waitress that we'd be back every second Wednesday. She said she didn't work on Wednesday ... so we changed it to Thursday :^)
We've been here many times, taken friends and family and it is consistently the best Indian restaurant we've found. Food is excellent, reasonably quick service and appropriately priced.
The butter chicken at this restaurant is seriously the best you'll ever eat. It is consistently delicious. Service has always been friendly. Decor is adequate and the place is clean. Do yourself a favour and try it.
We have visited Bombay Grill several times and it has consistently been good. I have to admit the samosas are a little bland, but last time, we ordered the fish tikka, saag gosht and the baigan burtha and found this to be a fantastic combination. The service has always been good.
Outstanding food. We have not been able to order Chicken Rogan Josh anywhere else- they always seem to have beef bit won't do chicken. If you haven't had it before - try it. The onion Bajis are great and the garlic Naan is awesome too. They are really friendly and give great service! Our favorit Indian restaurant and we have tried them all in town
I've eaten in many Indian restaurants and this one is far and above the best. Everything was great. Service was friendly, Raj gave several excellent suggestions. They always seem to be slow with the bill but that seems to happen with every Indian restaurant I've been to. I wonder if it is a cultural thing.
The combo came with Samosas, they were prefrozen. Mixed vegetable: it was nice with very few cottage cheese (paneer), Butter chicken was good, Tandoori chicken tasted good but only had one piece for each person. The menu listed Gulab Jamun but after food was done we had to specifically ask for it, still then the waiter said it didn't come with the menu and kept the menu hiding behind the counter, when asked for the menu again and pointed it out then he sneaked and said "ohh there it is" as he had not seen the bold prints at 4 places.
I went out to lunch with a co-worker whom has never had Indian food. I was interested in perhaps trying something new. Our food well made to perfection and we didn't have to wait very long at all. Our server helped us each choose something that suited our tastes. We were both very pleased with our meals and would definately go back again. The quick service makes it an excellent lunch spot and they have great lunch combos that give you the opportunity to try smaller portions of a few things.
This was a first time visit based upon reading the reviews listed on this site. The food was terrific! The tikka was outstanding (the best I've ever had) and the vindaloo was "brow dripping" good! I would heartily reccomend this to everyone. The only down side appeared to be a malfunction with the air conditioning, however the doors were open. The food more than made up for any inconvience.
This was my first time going to an Indian restaurant. It was great! Food was amazing. The nan was very fresh and tasty. I can't handle spice all too well but they made everything to order. Waiter was very attentive and we didn't have to wait too long for anything. I'm already trying to figure out what I'm going to order for my next visit. Definately recommended!
