Perhaps this is because we dined on a Monday, but our overall impression was not stellar. The service was adequate but not super ? our server appeared to have been new and was still grappling with the nuances of the menu. The appetizer was good but not great and the mango salsa had an aftertaste I couldn?t identify. Fortunately, the entrees were very good, though perhaps lacking in originality. Plating was impressive and pleasing to the eye. The dining experience was pleasurable but a bit pricey for the quality of food and ambiance.
I must say i have underestimated downtown resturants. Doubting downtown I entered Acclamation with doubts. Acclamation is a gorgeous resturant, an atmosphere such a a warm home. Food was great and portion size was good. Server was very friendly and accomadating. Will be back for more. Acclamation is a resturant that everyone should try at least once.
The Calamari appetizer is wonderful--very tender. We ordered the fish stew "Caldeira" which was piled high with various shellfish and lots more calamari! A bit too much since the appetizer was so large--a good server might have suggested that to us. Service was slow -- they had to send someone out to buy ingredients for a cosmopolitan! I would try it again--lots more on the menu.
